Purpose of the position

We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide enterprise-level assistance to both in-house staff and external customers. You will diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware problems and help install, debug or upgrade applications and programs.

Your responsibilities would include resolving network issues, configuring operating systems and using remote desktop connections to provide immediate support. You will use email and chat applications to give clients quick answers to simple IT issues. For more complex problems that require instruction, you will contact clients via phone and/or provide clear, written instructions and technical manuals.

What you’ll do  

  • Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
  • Talk staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
  • Replace parts as required, provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Follow diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
  • Support the roll-out of new applications
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
  • Respond within agreed time limits to call-outs
  • Prioritize and manage many open cases at same time
  • Rapidly establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals
  • Test and evaluate new technology

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems Technology or related field. A postgraduate degree is desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Software Development or an equivalent of education and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the programs and applications such as Microsoft, Linux and Cisco technologies.
  • Additional certification in Microsoft, Linux, similar technologies is required
  • Exhibit strong ability to think logically, problem solving skills, attention to detail, strong customer focus 
  • Ability to interact confidently with teams to establish what the problem is and explain the solution
